But, Jeff Clark-Meads has weathered all these difficulties in his 13 years as owner – “gaffer” he calls himself – of Job Done Communications, ATDI’s PR-and-several-other-things consultancy.
“I love working with ATDI,” Jeff says. “The folks here are passionate about what they do and fantastically knowledgeable. I’ve learned a lot and I’ve had a load of fun doing it.”
Jeff is the former international news editor at Billboard, and he was also director of communications (he wanted to be director of truth, but the board wouldn’t have it) at the music industry trade association, the BPI.
“I was seconded to the BPI from Billboard as the music business was under a Monopolies Commission investigation so it was a fascinating time,” he comments. “What I learned then, in dealing with politicians, the media and analysts, reinforced my lifelong belief that the only way to succeed is to do simple things well. In communications, simplicity is not just genius, it is elegance and beauty – as well being the only thing people will actually read. Shakespeare said it, Arthur C. Clarke said it, Brian Clough said it; am I going to argue with those guys?”
