An ATDI engineer has received a royal salute for his work on the waves.
Keen yachtsman Nick Kirkman, the company’s technical director, has been given the Royal Yachting Association Lifetime Commitment Award for his 20 years of teaching children to sail on the Hampshire coast. The honour was presented by the Princess Royal at a ceremony in London; Nick’s wife, June, also received the award.
RYA sport development manager Duncan Truswell comments: “The RYA Volunteer Awards are our opportunity to say thank you on behalf of clubs and associations that affiliate to the RYA to their volunteers, the people that really make a difference to help people get afloat. It’s our opportunity to take a bit of time out and say thank you very much for the commitment you guys make to the sport to help people get afloat safely and enjoyably.”
Nick says: “It was a great honour to receive the award from Her Royal Highness and very much a thrill to be recognised in this way for work I have so much enjoyed doing.”
