NPT is an established user of ATDI’s flagship planning and modelling tools, ICS Telecom and ICS Manager, in its work in regulating broadcasters and fixed link services in Norway. Now it is using custom tools based on this software to make optimum use of the spectrum for PMR systems.
ATDI engineer Peter Paul, who is overseeing the project, comments: We have worked closely in partnership with NPT on creating some new functionality which best suits their needs in this area. The knock on affect of this development is that other customers will be able to benefit from the tools we have produced here.
PMR encompasses users such as the emergency services and taxi companies. NPT is tasked with ensuring the spectrum is used to its maximum public benefit in this area. The organisation uses ATDI planning and modelling tools to ensure a minimum of interference between services and that use of the available spectrum is at maximum efficiency.
NPT and ATDI began working together in 2004 after ATDI won a competitive tender to supply an organisation-wide spectrum management system. ATDI implemented the system in broadcast and fixed services and now NPT has placed an order for the new system for PMR.
ATDI engineers have been working with NPT staff throughout to advise on best practice and to ensure the smooth integration of the new tools with NPT’s existing systems.
